We are very pleased to announce that this year we are bringing the 3rd edition of ActInSpace to Azerbaijan! with Baku, the capital, being as a host city for the event on November 18-19, 2022.
ActInSpace Azerbaijan is organized by the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), created and opened in Baku in September 2016 thanks to an international agreement signed between Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (Azerbaijan) and the University of Strasbourg (France).
The establishment and further development of the aerospace industry in Azerbaijan have been pushed forward with the continuous support and impulse of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, towards the development of the ICT sector in the country overall.
Over the last ten years, this impulse has resulted in the implementation of a state policy on diversification of the economy and prioritization of ICT as the second main economic sector after the oil& gas industry, and the start of the historic path of the development of national aerospace industry in Azerbaijan.
Baku is the capital and the largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest city on the Caspian Sea and of the Caucasus region, with a population of 2,374,000. Baku is located 28 meters (92 ft) below sea level, which makes it the lowest lying national capital in the world and also the largest city in the world located below sea level.
The city is the scientific, cultural and industrial center of Azerbaijan. Many sizeable Azerbaijani institutions have their headquarters there. In the recent years, Baku has become an important venue for international events. It hosted the 57th Eurovision Song Contest in 2012, Baku European Games in 2015, the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix on an annual basis starting from 2016, 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017, and UEFA Euro 2020.
