ActInSpace was created in France by the CNES. The first edition of ActInSpace took place in 2014, and assembled five French cities and about two hundred contestants who participated in the contest. Considering the success, the CNES decided to team up with ESA and make the event international. The second edition of ActInSpace which took place in 2016 hosted twelve countries, twenty four participating cities and nearly a thousand contestants. This year, ActInSpace is growing even more, at the moment of writing, forty countries have already decided to participate; with nearly seventy cities in the race it is guaranteed to be the biggest ActInSpace yet.
ActInSpace 2018 is thus coming closer, which also means that we are getting a clearer and clearer picture of who is participating in this years’ edition. Amongst the countries participating, the country with the most participants is France. The French cities number sixteen, thus making them the biggest contingent from one country.
ActInSpace 2018 is the third edition of this competition to happen in France. French cities have always participated with great enthusiasm, and it certainly seems no different this year.
The French finals, as well as the international finals for ActInSpace 2018 will be held in Toulouse, in the South of France. The first prize for the French participants is a visit to Guyana, to have the once in a lifetime experience of viewing the launch of an Ariane, among all the other wonders Guyana has to offer!
